Quadriplegia, Tetraplegia, and Hemiplegia are the 3 types of paralysis .Among them hemiplegia is the most common one. This is known as pakshaghata in ayurveda. Treatments are Abhyang, swedana, dhanyamladhara, sirovasthi, tailadhara, virechana etc . . .

Obesity
Obesity is the curse of this century .The main causes are high calorie diet , hormonal imbalance and lack of exercise .This leads to hypertension, diabetis, cholesterol, stroke, degeneration of disc and joints, other vascular diseases etc .

Obesity can be treated with diet  regulation, yoga,  meditation and exercise. The treatments are udwardhanam, swedanam, and oral medicines .

Piles

Low fibre diet is the main cause of piles .Another reason for piles is heredity .There are two types of piles one is bleeding and other is non bleeding .
For this we give oral medications and in severe cases kshara  sutra is done .

Infertility

To get a child is the ambition  of  every couple .Various diseases prevent them from getting a child .Ayurvedic  treatment is directed towards correcting the diseases of the body and regaining the hormonal balance .

Jaundice

Jaundice is mainly caused by virus. It affects mainly the liver functions .Poor sanitation and contaminated water are the main  reasons . Treatment consists of rest and medicines . Traditional single herbs which are available in our herbal garden are very effective in treating jaundice.

Skin Diseases

There are 18 type of skin diseases according to ayurveda . Skin diseases are chronic in nature .
Treatment consists of samana and sodhana .A course of medicine are required for the cure of skin diseases.

Psoriasis

This is a type of skin disease .This can be completely cured
The treatments are abhyanga with special medicated oils ,takradhara ,and a course of medicines.

Asthma

Asthma is mainly caused by allergents  . Cough and breathlessness  are the main symptoms .
Panchakarma treatment and oral medicines are given for asthma .

Epilepsy

The cause of epilepsy is unknown. Loss of consciousness  and shivering are the symptoms . The treatment consists of giving medicated ghee and other special treatments.

Diabetics

According to ayurveda there are 20 types of  premeha .In them Madhumeha is correlated to diabetes . Diabetis is due to the increase of sugar level in blood . Two types of diabetes are insulin depentant and non insulin- depentant diabetis. Diabetis  can be treated with restriction in diet , exercise and yoga , medicines etc . Diabetic complications like Diabetic neuropathy ,nephropathy ,retinopathy and diabetic ulcers can also be treated in ayurveda .

RHEUMATIC CONDITIONS

Osteo Arthritis

In this condition  the articular surface of joints undergo degeneration.  . Pain and difficulty in movements are the main symptoms . By the treatment the degenerated  surface will undergo regeneration.

Rheumatoid Arthritis

This is an auto immune disease . This is a  very painful condition .
Abyanga with medicated oil , Njavarakizhi , elakizhi , dhara , kashayavasthi ,snehavasthi, and oral medications are the treatments.

Rheumatic Fever

This is mainly due to indigestion of food and production of ama . This disease is known in ayurveda as ama vatha This can be cured by oral medications and other special treatments.

Facial Paralysis

This is a condition in which any half of facial muscles are paralysed. Difficulty in speech, chewing and smiling are the symptoms. Nasyam, sirovasthi, nadeeswedam and oral medication are employed for treating this .

Frozen Shoulder

This is a condition due to vatha in which the shoulder becomes stiff and the movements become painful. Treatments for this are nasyam, snehapana, and other oral medications.

Cervical Spondylosis

This is a life style disorder .In this condition the inter vertebral discs of cervical vertebrae undergo degeneration in single or multiple levels .  Over straining of neck muscles and improper sitting are some of the  causes . This can be cured by njavarakizhi,elakizhi, greeva vasthi and oral medications.

Lumbar Spondylosis

This  is also a lifestyle disorder. In this condition inter vertebral discs of lumbar vertebrae undergo degeneration at single or multiple levels. The treatments are njavarakizhi, podikizhi, kadivasthi, snehavasthi etc.

Sciatica

Due to progressive lumbar spondylosis, the sciatic nerve passing in between the vertebrae into the legs are compressed. As a result shooting pain radiates from back towards  legs. It may affect either single leg or both. Treatments are decided according to the condition of the patient .

Intervertebral Disc Prolapse ( IVDP )

.In between two vertebrae there is a disc like structure known as inter vertebral disc. This disc is made of two parts , an outer fibrous anulosis  and an inner nucleus palposis .In this case, through the weak portions of fibrous anulosis the nucleus palposis bulges out
Special treatments are done for this .

Carpal Tunnel Syntrome

This disease is caused  by the compression of median nerve .
Treatments are njavarakizhi, podikizhi etc . .

Fracture and Dislocation ( MARMA CHIKITSA)
